Strap in for Anne Zander is MOTHER x TheTnTGamer at Fertile Ground Festival 2024!

Le Why Not Productions proudly presents a hilariously vulnerable Double Feature from physical comedy powerhouse, Anne Zander, and rising clown star, Annabelle Wright, April 13, 14, 20 & 21 at 2pm in the Curious Comedy Annex.

What do a YouTuber-teen-boy turned multi-talented young woman and a longing-for-children artist turned wrestling-with-reality mom have in common? Find out as two clowns* face the complexities of irreversible change, grapple with identity, and draw you into the beautiful absurdity of their real lives.

*Think Natalie Palamides’ Netflix Special NATE over Bozo in the big top 🤡

3:15pm: Enter the afterbirth at Anne Zander is MOTHER, a postpartum comedy! From the mind that created the “painfully funny” smash-hit JUICEBOX (Official Selection 2020 HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival), and the body that birthed twins 2 years ago, this brand new solo show is clown, character, truth and fantasy, all rolled into one woman, dancing to the beat of her own breast pumps (BroadwayWorld).

2:00pm: Annabelle Wright was once a pre-teen boy with a YouTube channel and a simple dream: to be famous. Integrating the literal (and sometimes mortifying) YouTube videos from her youth, Annabelle’s debut solo show recreates the world of her former self – TheTnTGamer – and explores with vulnerability and absurdity how it shaped her identity and expression.

Laugh your ass off all afternoon and make it home in time for dinner, or grab a Fertile Ground Festival Pass and catch one of the many other shows on the same day!

Le Why Not Productions dissolves barriers between audience and performers, shines laughter into the dark corners of the human experience, and creates a space where contrasts collide and harmonize through the art of comedy.

Fertile Ground is an annual 10-day, city-wide festival highlighting new work from Portland’s creative community in myriad art forms, offering dozens of “acts of creation” for audiences to experience.

  • Website / Instagram / Facebook

Anne Zander (she/her/hers) is a “completely ridiculous… completely vulnerable” actor, clown, solo-character creator and physical comedy teacher with an MA in devised, physical theater (Theatre Lab) from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She studied clowning there and beyond with her award-winning teacher, Peta Lily.

Her “painfully funny” debut solo show — JUICEBOX — took Portland by storm in 2019 and was Official Selection 2020 at Chicago Sketchfest, Dallas Comedy Festival and HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival (Boston). Her absurd, digital solo show, Prolific, debuted at Fertile Ground 2021 and her latest original work, Anne Zander is MOTHER returns to the stage in April at this year's festival. She performs regularly at comedy venues across Portland and is also the mother to twin toddlers, who made multiple stage appearances in utero but have yet to bring their own clown antics to the greater public.

  • Website / Instagram / Something Weird

Annabelle Wright is a software engineer by day and a variety performer, funny woman, and comedy teacher by night.

She is a self described no-jokes absurdist. Annabelle is a co-producer of Something Weird, a monthly clown show in Portland.
